Categorized Components Mode"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By default when you inspect a GameObject in Power Inspector, all its visible components are shown in a flat list in the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.sisus.co\/power-inspector\/terminology\/inspector-view\/\"><strong>inspector view<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While this can work perfectly well in many situations, in some projects GameObjects might contain so <strong>many components<\/strong> that the view becomes <strong>cluttered<\/strong> and difficult to work with.<\/p>\n<p>To solve this issue, Power Inspector also has the ability to list components grouped under <strong>collapsible<\/strong> and <strong>user-definable categories<\/strong>. This feature is called the <strong>categorized components mode<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1446\" src=\"https:\/\/docs.sisus.co\/power-inspector\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/categorized-components-off-and-on.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"656\" height=\"513\" srcset=\"https:\/\/docs.sisus.co\/power-inspector\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/11\/categorized-components-off-and-on.png 656w, https:\/\/docs.sisus.co\/power-inspector\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/11\/categorized-components-off-and-on-300x235.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 656px) 100vw, 656px\" \/><\/p>\n<h1>Enabling Categorized Components<\/h1>\n<p>To <strong>enable<\/strong> <strong>categorized component mode<\/strong> in Power Inspector, open the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.sisus.co\/power-inspector\/features\/view-menu\/\"><strong>view menu<\/strong><\/a> from the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.sisus.co\/power-inspector\/features\/toolbar\/\">Power Inspector toolbar<\/a><\/strong> and select the item <strong>Categorized Components &gt; On<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1447\" src=\"https:\/\/docs.sisus.co\/power-inspector\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/enabling-uncategorized-components6.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"389\" height=\"235\" srcset=\"https:\/\/docs.sisus.co\/power-inspector\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/11\/enabling-uncategorized-components6.png 389w, https:\/\/docs.sisus.co\/power-inspector\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/11\/enabling-uncategorized-components6-300x181.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 389px) 100vw, 389px\" \/><\/p>\n<h1>Defining Component Categories<\/h1>\n<p>By default component categories are <strong>automatically generated<\/strong> from the categories of components in the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.sisus.co\/power-inspector\/preferences\/add-component-menu-config\/\"><strong>add component menu<\/strong><\/a>.<br \/>\nIf you do not want this to happen, you can <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.sisus.co\/power-inspector\/preferences\/categorized-components-generate-from-add-component-menu\/\">turn the feature off<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0in the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.sisus.co\/power-inspector\/getting-started\/editing-preferences\/\">preferences view<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can also <strong>define the categories separately<\/strong> from the add component menu paths using the item <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.sisus.co\/power-inspector\/preferences\/component-categories\/\">Categorized Components: Component Categories<\/a><\/strong> in the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.sisus.co\/power-inspector\/getting-started\/editing-preferences\/\">preferences view<\/a><\/strong>.<br \/>\nCategories defined here take precedence over categories generated from the add component menu paths when both methods are used.<\/p>\n<h1>Categorized Components Toolbar<\/h1>\n<p>Each component category shown in the inspector view contains a <strong>toolbar<\/strong> that has icons representing the components on the GameObject belonging under the category in question.<\/p>\n<p>You can change the <strong>unfolded state<\/strong> of component by <strong>clicking<\/strong> their <strong>icons<\/strong> on the toolbar.<br \/>\nIf the component category itself is collapsed when you click one of the component icons, it will also be unfolded automatically.<\/p>\n<p>If you <strong>right-click<\/strong> a <strong>component icon<\/strong> found on the toolbar, it will cause the <strong>context menu<\/strong> for the <strong>component<\/strong> that the icon represents to open.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1448\" src=\"https:\/\/docs.sisus.co\/power-inspector\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/5-categorized-components-context-menu.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"463\" height=\"423\" srcset=\"https:\/\/docs.sisus.co\/power-inspector\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/11\/5-categorized-components-context-menu.png 463w, https:\/\/docs.sisus.co\/power-inspector\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/11\/5-categorized-components-context-menu-300x274.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 463px) 100vw, 463px\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By default when you inspect a GameObject in Power Inspector, all its visible components are shown in a flat list in the inspector view.
